Upper level trof finally moves east of Idaho today and expect
the only snow showers to be in the eastern highlands this
afternoon. Cool conditions remain in northerly flow aloft with
highs remaining 30s and 40s mountains and 40s to lower 50s
valleys. Lows tonight in the teens and 20s under mainly clear
skies. Saturday will be dry with high temperatures edging back
closer to normal with highs into the 50s lower elevations and
40s mountains as high pressure aloft moves inland to the west of
Idaho. Lows Saturday night mainly teens and 20s mountains and
30s lower elevations.

.LONG TERM /SUNDAY THROUGH THURSDAY/...

Long term forecast remains mainly unchanged leading to increased
confidence. Sunday looks continued dry with slightly above normal
temps as a longwave ridge begins to establish itself across the
western U.S. Models continue to show a weak shortwave trough riding
over the top of the ridge and sliding through our area Monday into
Tuesday. This will bring a chance for showers mainly for the
mountains and highlands on Monday with lesser chances on Tuesday.
Then the ridge fully amplifies for middle to later next week
resulting in dry and well above normal temps. Near or low 70 degree
temps look likely for the lower elevations. Should start to see
rises on area rivers and streams later next week.

High pressure is beginning to build over the area this morning
which has led to decreasing cloud cover across eastern Idaho.
Skies should continue to clear thoughout the day with mainly
clear skies and light winds expected to prevail for much of the
weekend. Prolonged VFR conditions likely.
